Compressors and steam turbines for ammonia and urea processes

Ammonia is the most important feedstock for the fertilizer industry. Therefore ammonia is essential for producing food for the rising world population. The ammonia synthesis process was developed at the beginning of the last century and since then the chemical industry has supplied farmers with nitrogen containing fertilizer on ammonia basis.
 
Urea can also be used as a nitrogen-release fertilizer apart from its use as raw material in cosmetics, various plastics and adhesives.
 
Compressors generate the pressures of the various gaseous media required by the ammonia and urea production processes. In many cases these compressors are driven by steam turbines. MAN Diesel & Turbo supplies both compressors as well as steam turbines for ammonia and urea processes / plants.
